What is the story with airline food?
By this question I don’t mean the actual quality of the food. That has been done to death. I mean the way they serve it and the times that they serve it.
I really appreciate the airlines that try to get you into your next time zone by giving you the meal at the appropriate time. But have you ever had a day that you went through 3 time zones and had breakfast 3 times. And not the most appealing meal neither.
The next puzzle is this, on flights that arrive around breakfast time, they wake everyone up about 2 hours before landing. Everyone mills around feeling groggy and disorientated. 20 Minutes before landing they go into overdrive to get the breakfast served and packed away.
Which leads to the next enigma. The teeny tiny containers with lids that you can’t open. Are you supposed to thing that it is like opening presents and display great joy at the treasures you find in the little boxes? I don’t think so. They say it is for ease of storage and serving. We all know it is just a way for them to keep you busy for the longest time. The same counts for the packets of spoon, fork, knife and all your condiments. By the time you have that open you knife has launched itself across the aisle.
Why does somebody go to so much trouble to package 3 peanuts? Have you ever asked for another packet?
The one piece of advice I do think is really good, is to drink lots of water. Easy you may think. It really isn’t. Once you have someone’s attention and they bring you your water, it is in the smallest cup I have ever seen, and then it is only half full. Try to remember to take a water bottle with you to fill up in the galley. So much easier.
